Thoughts

First as a New Creation
-
We learn obedience through suffering (Heb 5:8)
-
The Holy Spirit purifies our conscience from dead works to serve the living God (Heb. 9:14)
-
We don't need teachers, because the Holy Spirit teaches us & it's not counterfeit (1 John 2:27)
-
The Son of God gives understanding (1 John 5:20)
-
Jesus is our peace (Eph 2:14, Col 3:15), our mediator and intercessor (1 Timothy 3:5)
-
God restores, confirms, strengthens, and establishes us (1 Peter 5:10)
We are:
-
Not to have rulers lord over us or great ones that exercise authority over us (Mark 10:42-43)
-
Justified by His grace (Titus 3:7)
-
Born of water and Spirit (John 3:5)
-
To continue in the grace of God (Acts 13:42-43)
-
To die to the law so we can bear fruit for God (Rom 7:4, John 12:24)
-
Set free in Christ by the law of the Spirit of life (Rom 8:2)
-
Not to submit again to yoke of slavery (Gal 5:1)
-
To live as one body (Col 3:15) with the Holy Spirit as each of our root (Matt 13:20)
-
Walk in the way Jesus walked (1 John 2:5) according to Spirit (Rom 8:4) & producing fruit
-
Renewed in knowledge of Savior by Spirit (Col 3:10, Titus 3:5)
-
To discern the will of God, what is good, acceptable & perfect by testing (Rom 12:2)
And we are recognized by our fruits (Matt. 3:8, Matt 7:16-20, Matt 12:33, John 15:8, Rom 7:4, Luke 3:8-9, Luke 6:44)
Fruits of the Holy Spirit:
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. (Gal 5:22-23)
Do our actions produce these fruits?
-
Or do they produce enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy?
-
Do they harm others or produce unfaithfulness like sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, orgies, drunkenness?
-
Are we putting something before God in our heart or putting our trust in something other than our Savior through idolatry, sorcery, or drunkenness?
Because these are works of the flesh (Gal 5:18-21)
Could this be what it means to discern what is pleasing to God... by testing? We are to test everything (1 Thessalonians 5:21) And told not to judge by appearances, but with right judgment (John 7:24)
God will judge all secrets of men (Rom 2:16) & make known the purposes of our hearts (1 Co 4:5)
Above all we are to Love God with all our heart, strength, soul, & mind. (1 Peter 1:8, Mk 12:30, Matt 22:37)
And love others
(Mark 12:31, 1 John 4:7, Rom 13:10, Col 3:14)
Love binds in perfect harmony (Col 3:14)
Covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8)
Covers all wrongs (Proverbs 10:12)
Does no harm to a neighbor (Rom 13:10)
Doesn't insist on it's own way (1 Co 13:5)
is patient & Kind, Doesn't envy or boast, is not arrogant or rude, not irritable or resentful, doesn't rejoice at wrongdoing, and rejoices with the truth.
Jesus is the truth and the Way. (John 14:6)
You search Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; & it is they that bear witness about me, yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life. (John 5:39-40)
This is eternal life: to know the one true God, & Jesus Christ (John 17:3)
The kingdom of heaven is now (Luke 17:21)
So don't be unfruitful (Titus 3:14) and continue in the dead works from which we were saved (Heb 6:1)
Prophecies & knowledge will pass away. Tongues will cease. We know in part & prophesy in part, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. As for love... Love never ends. (1 Co 13:8-10)
Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. (1 Co 13:4-7)
As for our behavior toward others...
